Southern Cross AKK
I know some of these questions may seem intrusive. The breeders of the Alaskan Klee Kai have been vigilant in screening their perspective adoptive parents keeping the number of AKK that have been surrendered to a shelter or pound very low. Since most of our contact is online, this will give me a better idea about who you are both as a person and as a pet owner. When filling our our application to adopt, more information is better! This application does not require you to purchase a puppy from us, just approves you as a possible future Southern Cross AKK owner. Please be aware you can expect to pay around $2000.00 for your new family member. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. When you are making a commitment for the life of a dog, you can never ask too many questions. If there is any additional information you would like me to know you may email me at shannon@southerncrossakk.com.

What kind of Animals have you had in the past, do you currently live with and are your animals spayed or neutered? What happened to the animals you no longer own?
*
What type of housing do you live in? If you rent have you cleared having a dog with your landlord? Do you have a fenced in back yard?
*
If you were to adopt one of our AKK, where would he/she sleep at night? Do you know about crate/kennel training?
*
Have you ever, for any reason, given an animal up? If so what type of animal, why did you give her/him up and where did they go?
*
Do you have children? What are their ages? Are you vigilant in teaching you children the proper treatment of animals?
*
Have you read about the importance of socialization with this breed? Are you willing to take your little dog out with you everywhere, making sure your new puppy gets as much socialization as possible? Maybe even walking around Home Depot or Lowes just because you know your puppy is allowed there and he/she will get some human interaction?
*
If am currently selling to pet homes only. If you are looking to breed and have experience as a breeder, please give me all the information you can regarding your breeding experience. I would consider it for the most experienced. Otherwise, can you agree to spay or neuter your AKK?
*
Are you aware that all dogs will housebreak at different times? It is my experience that a terrier will house break very easily while a northern breed dog like my husky Kodiak can take up to 6 months? My AKK took around 4 months but it is believed that a puppy cannot completely control its bladder or rectum until 6 months of age. Are you willing to spend this much time house breaking your little puppy?

What will the typical day be like for your new puppy? How many hours will he/she be alone?
